Wow--has it really been six years?? His birthday was on a Sunday so we decided to celebrate it on Saturday. The last day of school before the holidays was on the 18th, so his class celebrated his birthday that day--he took some Jolly Rancher Candy Canes to share with his class.

JJ with his School Class Birthday Crown...

In our family, we have birthday parties, when we are 5,8,12,16,and 18. So we spent Saturday as a family. JJ decided that he wanted to go bowling, so JJ got what he wanted. We had a fun time and Justin and John got their game on and ended up tieing each other in the 2nd round. JJ had a blast and that is what counts.

Check out all of our EXCELLENT bowling forms...

JJ holding his "green" bowling ball...

Mom and Dad with the Birthday Bowler...

The Happy Bowler...

That night we went to Mark Anthony's for dinner (thanks to coupons) and JJ chose pizza for his birthday dinner.
Everyone enjoying dinner...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2HQHMl56CI/AAAAAAAAAiw/dF3dgCSr4aU/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas2-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431851447643400226" />

On Sunday morning JJ woke up to the Traditional "dozen donuts" for breakfast. John took Bryce, Justin, and Landon golfing (of course) Thanksgiving morning. I, on the other hand, stayed back and stressed and worked on a talk that I was asked to give in Church. I wasn't much help to Aunt Norine but she pulled off another great dinner. Trevor has dubbed her,"The Best Cook Ever."

Aunt Norine doing her thing...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G0uJSK1bI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/VarsM3sPyuY/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431821330444637618" />
The Boys watching a movie while waiting for "Tom" to get done...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G1CQCIuzI/AAAAAAAAAhY/mqgRb0epeNU/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431821675853822770" />
Bryce catching up on some much needed sleep...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G1hZ2AwfI/AAAAAAAAAhg/tRAXBuXMlRA/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431822211063267826" />
Uncle Al having a little snack...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G1z-udypI/AAAAAAAAAho/e6akOFqr0tk/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431822530201373330" />
John engrossed in "Catching Fire", notice how he has removed himself to the bedroom...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G2LWWJqdI/AAAAAAAAAhw/H1lX8C-rtRQ/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431822931678833106" />
"Tom" in all his glory...isn't he beautiful?...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G2ts1RjrI/AAAAAAAAAh4/X9I-7_BLHuQ/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+011.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431823521830506162" />
The Beautiful Table...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G3OKXt9xI/AAAAAAAAAiA/jJAvFmU9Udc/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas+007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431824079515416338" />
Dinner at its Finest...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/S2G5HtXiIYI/AAAAAAAAAiI/xGDGp__NMIw/s320/Thgving,+JJ+bday,+christmas-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5431826167674052994" />

Thank You Rogers Family for a wonderful Thanksgiving, we love you guys!!!Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-4876350185490247292009-11-24T20:33:00.000-08:002009-11-24T21:23:31.815-08:00JJ's Kindergarten Thanksgiving Program and FeastToday was JJ's Thanksgiving Program and Feast. The whole class did a great job and they displayed their knowledge about the different continents and about Columbus and his discovery of America, and Plymouth and the Mayflower and the First Thanksgiving Feast. They all looked so "YUMMY" in their cute little costumes and had a great "Feast" at the end of the program. JJ was so excited for this and it was fun to watch. JJ has had a bad cold with the "croupy" cough and he stayed home yesterday and took his "Steroids" (to help him with his breathing) so he could make sure and attend his program. His eyes look a little "sad and tired" but he had a great day.

My "HANDSOME" Little Pilgrim:

"WAY TO GO PILGRIMS--WAY TO GO"

"I AM THANKFUL FOR AMERICA"

Enjoying the Feast with his good friend Parker (who won't look at the camera):
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Swy-oX4f5iI/AAAAAAAAAg4/i-OZQ-AA6sw/s320/JJ+Thanksgiving+Program+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407906853380154914" />Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-77202391624466251582009-11-14T16:20:00.000-08:002009-11-15T11:49:21.519-08:00"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!" 11-0 Football SeasonWOW, what a day!!!! The Riverton Purple Bantams did it again. An Awesome game to end an Awesome season. Today was the Championship game for Trevor's Little League Team. We played Alta, and in the regular season Riverton beat them by a touchdown. We knew Alta would come out with revenge on their minds, but in the end it was Riverton with a sweet victory of 14 -7 in OVERTIME!!! I do have to say that Alta came out HOT in the first half and we were a little concerned, this was the first time that we had be held to a scoreless half. During half time the clouds started rolling in and by the start of the third quarter, the clouds started reaking their havic (SNOW!!!) Riverton scored in the third quarter and tied the game. It was a hard fought battle by both sides and when the clock ran out in the 4th quarter, the game was sent into Overtime. In Little League rules, both teams get the ball on 10 yard line and get four downs to try and score. Riverton had the ball first and was able to run the ball in on the 3rd down and get the extra point. I really thought that Alta would score from that distance but the Riverton Boys had some great blocks and tackles and Alta had a 5 yard penalty for offsides. On 4th down, we knew Alta would come out with their "guns loaded" and go for a long pass. They did but the pass was INCOMPLETE and Riverton WINS!!!!!!!! We are so happy for Trevor and his little team, they have all worked hard. CONGRATULATIONS!

The Team Mom's made these posters for the boys and brought them over to hang on their front doors:
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404185180556875394" style="DISPLAY: block; Halloween was very interesting this year. Justin and Trevor both had parties to go to and it was just JJ, John, and I, and we didn't have very many Trick or Treaters. We have had so many new houses go up around us, I guess the kids think that the BIGGER houses have bigger candy. Anyways, Justin took JJ out for about a hour and then went off to his party and I took Trevor to his party and John took JJ out for another go around. Then we just hung out and watched Football and waited until the boys returned, which wasn't until midnight. Good thing we have little JJ to still enjoy Halloween. JJ was the cutest Obi Wan Kenobi ever, and loved his glow in the dark light saber.

Strike a pose:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SvGrI6WCTCI/AAAAAAAAAdw/1Lad65V2MPk/s320/Halloween+09+001-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400285597782920226" />
Bring It On Darth Vador:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SvGtqS54YeI/AAAAAAAAAeY/U0VBV0SYdxI/s320/Halloween+09+002-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400288370334654946" />
Obi Wan and Big Brother:<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SvGsBamNEhI/AAAAAAAAAeA/wLlJO8R-mOY/s320/Halloween+09+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400286568513344018" />
Ready for Trick or Treating:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SvGsW1WKeTI/AAAAAAAAAeI/lt0A_yoaGoY/s320/Halloween+09+005-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400286936471075122" />
The Loot:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SvGsveeYtZI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/prPpfHyDC1c/s320/Halloween+09+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400287359828276626" />Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-9897195129772668972009-11-03T13:33:00.000-08:002009-11-15T15:28:23.203-08:00The UNDEFEATED "PURPLE BANTAM" Riverton Football TeamAs you can tell, I have been a bit of a slacker in the blogging department because the whole football season has come and gone and not one football blogging moment has taken place. Trevor has been in football since the end of July. His team has had an outstanding year, they are undefeated with a record of 9 and 0!!!!! It has been a fun year with some really intense games. One was against Alta, and Grandpa Dave and Grandma Mary were there to see it and got to witness Trev lose his cookies. It was a HOT afternoon and a really physical game and Trev took a hit right to his gut and everything came out through his mouth, but the good news was that they won in the last few minutes of the game. Another intense game was against Olympus and both teams came into the game undeafted. Grandma Judy and Grandpa Dave got to see that one and Riverton pulled themselves together in the second half to gain another victory. The season has offically ended and Trevor has his first playoff game this Saturday at High Noon. Very Exciting Times for us. I put a collage together and a clip that shows Trevor to a T and how he is a major leader on this football team.

Trevor is #88:

LET'S GET FIRED UP!!!!!:

I don't know where this enthusiam comes from, but it seems to serve him well, and he can be as loud as he wants on the football field. In fact, he was going to miss one game to go hunting with his Aunt Mandi and Uncle Curt, and we had one of the coaches call to ask us if there was anyway we could make it a win win situation (have him hunt and then pick him up for the game and then take him back to hunt after the game.) Well that wasn't going to be possible and unfortunately the decision was made for him because his aunt and uncle ended up with the swine flu. He is definately known by ALL!!!!Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-10993047377036266712009-10-11T11:06:00.000-07:002009-11-03T12:14:50.395-08:00Justin and the Riverton Golf TeamThe Golf season is officially over!!!! I honestly have to say that I am relieved. I get really nervous for Justin because I know he wants to do well. The team had nine different tournaments and Justin's score was used several times. There were over 65 people who tried out for the team and they kept 16. Justin earned another letter this year, and had a great time with his teammates. Riverton High School is the largest High School in Utah, so Justin has a lot of competition and he handles it a lot better than I do. The team ended up ranked 11th in State and Justin was named to the Second All Region Team. He is already talking about next season and all the different ways he wants to prepare (help me). I am sure that John and Justin will be spending every chance they can on the courses. We have so many pictures of Justin that I just made small collage and included a video of him putting.

Justin doing his thing:

The 2009 Riverton Golf Team

I love this video because Justin has his cute little smile and then the little "Tiger Pump" at the end:

Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-24173335413804411242009-10-09T20:31:00.000-07:002009-11-03T20:58:22.472-08:00Family PicturesWe have not had a family picture done since JJ was one. And when we got that one,the biggest print we got was a 8 x 10. The big family picture we have hanging in the family room is when Justin was 8 and Trevor was 4. Pretty Pathetic. I have been bugging the Photographer that does the pictures for John's school about doing a family photo for us. He finally called one day and we set up the date. We decided on doing them at Memory Grove, which is right by the Capital on Saturday, October 3. Needless to say, the boys were not very happy about getting dressed up and Justin of course had better things to do. However, the mother in me came out and I trumped everybody and I think they turned out pretty good. We still haven't decided on one that we want to get blown up, but at least it is in the works. I'll just post a modge podge of the different ones I like.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 262px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-00OQMe7I/AAAAAAAAAcg/_LyCc4hr9sY/s320/Welburn+Family+09+013.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399733287512734642" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-1OMjX7zI/AAAAAAAAAco/QBwYgUdamik/s320/Welburn+Family+09+014.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399733733732904754" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-7RKbeNyI/AAAAAAAAAc4/ekpoDnunfes/s320/Welburn+Family+09+019.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399740381772265250" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-7x1xynAI/AAAAAAAAAdA/AUKUm-Vj_zU/s320/Welburn+Family+09+031.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399740943164414978" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-8c0JCv0I/AAAAAAAAAdI/9kJqN4gEGeE/s320/Welburn+Family+09+036.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399741681459445570" />
This last picture, the photographer included because he thought JJ was so funny. We borrowed Jim and Traci's four wheeler so we could both have fun (plus I get motion sick riding behind someone.) Our good neighbor, Carl Ahlberg, let us borrow his trailer to haul the four wheelers. We picked up the Gardner's nice and early and drove a short distance past Hobble Creek Golf Course and to the mouth of the canyon. We took a trail that eventually led us to Daniel's Summit which is close to Strawberry Reservoir. The ride was very beautiful, the trees were just starting to change but there were many rocky spots (not a trail I would want to have double riders on.) We had lunch at the Daniel's Summit Lodge and it was most delicious--I would definately recommend eating there if you have the chance. It took us most the day and was a fun way to enjoy nature. The premise for the Assemble was to get the kids to "DOUBLE" their efforts in reading and record more minutes read than last year. The finale of the Assembly was Jim saying that he would "double" his efforts, and he brought John out and they played with the kids because they both dressed alike. John said the kids went nuts and it was fun for him to be back in the Elementary. Here is a picture that Traci sent me.

Jim and the Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love Twin:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 216px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-qHKlzuGI/AAAAAAAAAbw/9ft-f3jDImI/s320/DSC00300-1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399721518319253602" />Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-21528305989295982152009-09-07T19:22:00.000-07:002009-11-02T19:42:29.458-08:00HAPPY 17TH JUSTIN!!!My first baby turned 17 today. Wow, how did that happen? He was actually born on Labor Day and today is actually Labor Day. I remember how happy we were to have Justin join our family. He was such a GOOOOOOOOOOD baby. It has been fun watching him grow and mature. Every stage of life holds it ups and downs, but Justin is a great kid with a HUGE heart. It is hard to imagine that in two years, we will be putting him on a plane going who knows where so he can be a full time missionary, (notice the positive mental thinking.) Dad ran to the store to get the dozen doughnuts for his morning breakfast which you can see made the growing teenager very happy! (John wouldn't even give me time to put the doughnuts on a tray because they had a very early Tee Time, OF COURSE!)

Yummy Doughnut Breakfast:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-jX2D5bDI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/rXx_qkgNOa0/s320/JJ+Teeth,+Just+BDay,+4wheeling+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399714108284693554" />

He got a new phone for his birthday (better than mine). Still can't figure out how that happened and a new putter. We always give the boys the choice of where they want to eat, and Justin chose, Chili's.

Justin and JJ enjoying their Chili's dinner:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-kinvJNpI/AAAAAAAAAbY/EnyiJFLK83A/s320/JJ+Teeth,+Just+BDay,+4wheeling+007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399715392929740434" />

I also always give the boys their choice of birthday cake. Justin asked for the huge, monster chocolate cake from Costco. The thing is that I forgot that Costco was not open on Labor Day, so we had to wait until Tuesday and the following picture is actually taken the day after his birthday but Justin wanted to wait because the Costco cake is what he wanted.

Justin and his Best Buddy with the Mambo Jambo Costco Cake:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-l5n60mQI/AAAAAAAAAbg/QoDNEuYADjw/s320/Football+09+Justin+Bday+Cake+110.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399716887627340034" />
(Notice the #1 is missing. Well big, bad, mommy just had to put her thumb in there and it fell out. Of course, the blood sent JJ into hysterics but he lived through it and was very excited to show all his friends his tooth. He ended up losing the other bottom tooth the very next week. Our neighbor, Heather, down the street, gave JJ a tooth fairy box to put his tooth in, so he could get his "reward". He was very excited to wake up. This was a big moment for JJ because most of his friends are older than him and have their birthday before him and are taller than him and so forth, anyways, he was one of the first kids in his kindergarten class and neighborhood to lose a tooth and that just thrilled him which of course thrilled me.

JJ holding his tooth:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-gVLAJadI/AAAAAAAAAa4/TG8UcqDef0A/s320/JJ+Teeth,+Just+BDay,+4wheeling+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399710763831618002" />
The Tooth Fairy box:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-g1yYAJTI/AAAAAAAAAbA/TNco91qa1Io/s320/JJ+Teeth,+Just+BDay,+4wheeling+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399711324156470578" />
The loot from the Tooth Fairy:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Su-hRRTPFaI/AAAAAAAAAbI/Jnx2bjpaaCM/s320/JJ+Teeth,+Just+BDay,+4wheeling+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399711796314445218" />Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-65950541825892447672009-08-24T14:33:00.000-07:002009-08-24T15:12:35.977-07:00Trev and My Baby's (JJ) 1st Day of SchoolToday was the day that Trevor has been dreading and JJ has been waiting for, basically for the whole last month. I have mixed feelings. I am grateful that JJ is excited for school and that I have the morning to myself but yet it signifies a big phase in my life--JJ is no longer dependent solely on me. He was so excited this morning that he wanted to leave 15 minutes before we were supposed to leave. I just hope that this excitement continues but in a few weeeks I will probably be dragging him out of bed. Trev was very accomodating and let me take his picture with his brother and by himself. Trevor is starting his 8th grade year and JJ is of course in Kindergarten. John officially started school today also, and when I talked to him about 10:30 this morning, the day wasn't going so great. Justin does not start until Wednesday and is enjoying his last few days of freedom. He actually has a Riverton High Tournament today, and I am trying to occupy my time and thoughts so I don't get physically sick. Anyways here are the cute boys in what John calls their "Harry Potter" outfits.

The two boys together (I didn't notice Trev had his eyes closed WOOPS!!!)...

Handsome Trev...

Stinkin' Cute JJ...

Picture with Big Brother...

Mom with her baby boy...

When we got to school, Trevor took care of himself and I walked with JJ to his classroom. Well we haven't even used the 4-wheeler this summer and since it was the last Saturday before school started it was a fun way to end the summer. Justin actually had an opportunity to make some money by painting a few rooms for a neighbor and of course he wouldn't want to miss out on a day of golf, so he was able to get 18 holes in before we even got home (very slowly Justin is easing his way out of our lives and I don't LIKE it one BIT!!!!) Anyways, we had a great time and the trail was beautiful but very dusty and once again I am very grateful for running HOT water and washing machines and dryers.

The BEAUTIFUL scenery...<img style="display:block; He tries to make sure that he takes Trevor out around his birthday. They went this past Monday, and struck GOLD!!! As Uncle Alan would say, "They caught several LUNKERS." Justin declared that he was a "golfer" and not a "fisherman", so it was just John, Trev, JJ, and Brad. They caught a total of 27 fish.

Trev showing off his "LUNKER"...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SoMtNSoYsGI/AAAAAAAAAXg/jbaeXZKwLyQ/s320/fishing09+006-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369184887118540898" />
Trevor in his element...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SoMucl4BOEI/AAAAAAAAAXw/44q75ZHqw2c/s320/fishing09+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369186249494050882" />
JJ waiting for the "BIG ONE"...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SoMux8RUYAI/AAAAAAAAAX4/m4rwBZ6pL6g/s320/fishing09+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369186616282996738" />
Brad being so patient with JJ...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SoMvQA5THII/AAAAAAAAAYA/BH-aqX5CEWg/s320/fishing09+009.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369187132920503426" />
JJ with his "LUNKER"...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SoMvifvgV2I/AAAAAAAAAYI/vZSXJjeQxqI/s320/fishing09+011.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369187450438571874" />

Thanks for a great day Brad!!!!Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-18166459570630526852009-08-04T15:24:00.000-07:002009-08-06T09:54:08.618-07:00Yuba Lake with the HoaldridgesYes, we love Yuba Lake!!! We took my sis and her family out yesterday and had a hoot. I am very impressed with my sis because she hates boats and lakes and not only did she get in the boat she also got in the lake (accidentally of course.) Even with the wind, we had a great time. Trevor and Brayden had a great time on the tube and actually wanted to get flipped.
Here they are:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Sni2CKRipiI/AAAAAAAAAVw/ITQc0nouh80/s320/Yuba+w+Hoaldridges+014-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366239104245868066" />
Getting whipped around...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Sni2W5H0AOI/AAAAAAAAAV4/FvHtce3ZLQc/s320/Yuba+w+Hoaldridges+056-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366239460418912482" />
Baylee was a little nervous about getting on the tube, but Nicole and I talked her into going with us (my first time on the new tube.) We had so much fun until we made it through a really rough turn and waves and accidentally got flipped when the water ran in through the front. We all survived but Baylee was out of that lake as soon as she could be.
Taking a nice ride...<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Sni3wICgM4I/AAAAAAAAAWA/qTTyLDvLTIQ/s320/Yuba+w+Hoaldridges+040.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366240993431532418" />
Nicole and I getting brave and standing up...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Sni4IL7L_kI/AAAAAAAAAWI/BJn6vVoKXSY/s320/Yuba+w+Hoaldridges+041-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366241406791450178" />
Even BJ joined in on the fun...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Sni4m-CvnxI/AAAAAAAAAWQ/F7wZX8pd9TI/s320/Yuba+w+Hoaldridges+033.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366241935640993554" />
Having a good 'ol time...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Sni54HUI0SI/AAAAAAAAAWY/6Q32r1GGTe4/s320/Yuba+w+Hoaldridges+029.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366243329699270946" />
We were very surprised when Bryson (not even 2 years old), started yelling that he wanted to get on the tube (this from the same little boy that was crying because he was scared when the boat first started going.) Having your birthday on a Sunday is always hard but I think it is double hard when it is on Fast Sunday. I stole an idea from Aunt Rebecca for birthday mornings. She has gotten the birthday person a plate of a dozen doughnuts for their birthday breakfast. Well I wanted to start this tradition with the first KID birthday of the year in our family. Trevor was my first try and I was so bummed that it was fast Sunday. I still presented him with his dozen doughnuts and told him that he could wait until next week to fast so he could enjoy his doughnuts now. I had one of those moments as a mom when you think, "Wow, I am very impressed with my child." Trevor made an AWESOME decision not to eat until he had broken his fast, but he was sure happy to get home from church and enjoy a doughnut.

Trev with his tray of doughnuts...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 228px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnZkRLGX48I/AAAAAAAAAVQ/rG7mDw3EvYs/s320/Trev+13th+BDay+001-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365586252258599874" />

The two boys enjoying the view...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnZkrShEgAI/AAAAAAAAAVY/vUKchUGGLaM/s320/Trev+13th+BDay+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365586700926222338" />

The Only One That Got To Enjoy A Doughnut in The Morning...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnZlNTprjlI/AAAAAAAAAVg/aBRJW0ahphk/s320/Trev+13th+BDay+003-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365587285346324050" />

Grandma Judy invited us down to her house for dinner and we had a nice roast, with corn on the cob, salad, jellos, and rolls. Somedays I wonder where all that time has gone and other times it seems like it has already been eternity. We were able to leave straight from my parents and drive down to Mesquite to spend the night and both have massages. It was John's very first massage and he had quite the chatty little guy who was very into homeopathic healing and basically never shut up the whole time he was being massaged. I had a great gal who asked if there was anything in particular that I wanted her to focus on and she did a good job. It was nice to get away and talk about the last 19 years. It was actually quite funny because while we were driving I asked John if he only had one word to describe these last 19 years what would it be? He thought about it and kept saying he had more than one but I told him it could only be ONE word. He finally said, "WONDERFUL." Well of course me and my sick mind went to all those places that hadn't been so wonderful, but after thinking about it-- they BECAME wonderful because we worked through them TOGETHER--just don't ask me to do it again. He then asked me my word and I said "INTERESTING." Well of course, John takes that in the negative way and I am thinking that it has been a very interesting ride full of love, happiness, growth, sadness, trials, and adjusting--but again we did it TOGETHER. That having been said, I can think of no other person that I would have rather have spent the last 19 years with. I love you Johnnie!!!! Happy 19th Anniversary Baby!!! We had us a good game of wiffle ball, and the kids had a home run tournament. I personally was a little worried because my dad and sister had been training together and they pretty much knew the route (the actual route ended up being better than what they originally thought). Also I had been in Fish Lake and only ran/walked once. However, I knew I could do it if they could. Justin also ended up running the 5K and kicked my trash. It really makes me mad that I work out all the time and at least attempt to run a couple of times a week and he does NOTHING and totally beats my time by like seven (yes I said 7), minutes. Good for him, but one day he will be 39 too. Unfortunately, the night before, we were playing a family wiffle ball game (later post) and Nicole turned her ankle. She was still a little sore the morning of the race but determined to run. However, part of the route included a dirt road and she twisted that same ankle in a rut--she was not able to finish. But bless her heart, a couple of days ago she ran the route just to prove that she could do it. (Smith competitiveness again) My dad and I both took FIRST (yes, I said 1st), place in our age divisions (not the overall race winners). Brayden and Baylee (Nicoles kids took third in their divisions). Justin ran a dang good race but was competing against half of the Nephi Cross Country team. We improved our time by almost 4 minutes--not bad for a 39 and 62 year old. Here are a lot of different moments of our 5K.

A few shots of Justin, my dad, and me running by my parents house (yes, it was on the route)

Justin looking like a runner...
<img style="display:block; We have grown from 2 families to 8 families, and it just keeps getting better. Here is a shot of our lovely campsite.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnTKVuWKHQI/AAAAAAAAAR4/XjaENxIDSIQ/s320/100_2856.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365135530672135426" />
Our family spent a total of 5 days there, and it still wasn't enough for some (hint hint: Trevor and JJ). My favorite part of camping is just sitting, relaxing, reading and enjoying a good round of hand and foot. My boys on the other hand enjoy air soft wars, fishing, swimming, and exploring. This was the first year that they actually swam and we drove over to Capitol Reef and enjoyed some waterfalls and a swimming hole. Here is some the crew enjoying the cool off. (Gotta love that red dirt!)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnO37xOEVjI/AAAAAAAAAQI/DUdfDFwF6QY/s320/Fish+Lake09+Tyler+Bball+088-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364833818580899378" />
Justin jumping off...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnXc0HL_7ZI/AAAAAAAAAVI/NSWLNiI1Ch0/s320/Fish+Lake09+Tyler+Bball+094-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365437318922497426" />
John was a real trooper and took Trevor and JJ fishing a couple of times. They could choose from making bracelets or fruit loop necklaces, painting rocks, playing bingo, face painting, hula hooping (BIG HIT), playing card games, or playing cars and trucks for the boys and playing dolls and finger/toe painting for the girls. One of the families brought their cute little dog, Dodger, and he provided JJ with ample entertainment, he especially liked to walk the Dodger on the leash. Here is JJ hula hooping (if that is a word?)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnO6rfNsxxI/AAAAAAAAAQY/NaUzqeGo-Yo/s320/Fish+Lake09+Tyler+Bball+086.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364836837404493586" />
Our shade tent and picnic tables came in pretty handy and here we are eating our yummy hamburgers. Fish Lake has become one of our very FAVORITE places to camp. We always camp in the Frying Pan campground. Major plus is the flushie toilets. There is no way to show all the pictures that I took so here is a collection of different shots.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SnO-jn2oo-I/AAAAAAAAAQw/EYWNebfICDQ/s320/Fish+Lake09+Tyler+Bball-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364841100331230178" />
Finally, we like to end our trip by taking family pictures in front of the "FRYING PAN CAMPGROUND" sign. We are sooooo excited to have them here. Well Nicole talked my dad and I into running the Ute Stampede 5K race. Well ever since the Moab Half Marathon that I ran three years ago, I have not been a very "enthused" runner--I tend to stick to fast walking and Jillian Micaels workouts. Anyhow, we promised not to leave each other and we all ran together. It was actually OK. We finished the race in a little over 36 minutes and felt quite "accomplished". Now all you avid runners don't laugh, we did it for fun and not for the "competition." I got some shots of all three of us before, during, and after the race. (I should really say that Nicole was the one that remembered her camera, so thank you Nicole for helping catch these wonderful memories!!)

Before the race...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlvvTaHP7LI/AAAAAAAAAPc/9LYmYE87NOY/s320/Nephi+5K+007-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358139298393615538" />

During the race...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlvvlP-cL4I/AAAAAAAAAPk/3dGO3GjaGT0/s320/Nephi+5K+008-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358139604909961090" />

Crossing the finish line "TOGETHER"...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlvwKjl-9aI/AAAAAAAAAPs/t1zjBjvhUQM/s320/Nephi+5K+009-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358140245831251362" />

After the race...
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/Slvwf6bpDFI/AAAAAAAAAP0/CgfUcc1aWN0/s320/Nephi+5K+011-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358140612739140690" />

You will notice that all three of us pretty much color coordinate. This year was no different. We drove down on Friday afternoon and the four boys (John, Justin, Jim, and Braden) all went golfing while Traci cooked dinner and I worked on my blog. We had dinner and spent the night with Jim's family. At the crack of dawn, the four boys again woke up and went golfing. It gave Traci and I a leisurely morning and then when the golfing was over, we all went down to the park. There are many booths that the younger kids can participate in and of course the older boys can find things to do also. Here are a few shots of the younger kids and their activities.

JJ after getting his face painted...

Katie, JJ, and Megan with their faces all painted...

JJ doing the ring toss...

Katie and JJ on the 4-wheeler train...

Cameron and Trev sporting their 4th of July shirts that they won in a race on the inflatable slides (thanks Cam for letting Trev win so he could get a shirt.)

JJ sporting and showing his prizes...

John and I "relaxing" under the big shade trees...

In the afternoon, the six boys entered a dodgeball competition. It was quite funny to see how nervous and anxious Jim and John were because there were a couple of "college men" teams and they were funny to watch and listen to with their stategizing. They never did end up playing those teams because they did it according to size and age. There was one really funny moment when the boys were playing another group of young boys and one boy said to his team, "Let's get the old man!" Well that "old man" they were referring to was John. We had a great time with Jim and Traci and we are very grateful to live in a country where we enjoy all kinds of freedoms. Thank you to all those who defend those freedoms!!!!!!Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-17576325112240255582009-07-03T22:15:00.000-07:002009-07-07T20:12:06.441-07:00A Conference for John and a Vacation for Deb in Atlanta, GeorgiaJohn had the opportunity to go to a conference held in Atlanta, GA and I was able to go because all I had to do was purchase my airline ticket because the hotel had already been paid. John really enjoyed the conference but it was not "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY". We arrived late Saturday night, and I was able to go to church with one of the wife's who had served a mission there over ten years ago. The ward was very friendly and I was thinking that maybe I had been transported to Hawaii because the counselor that was conducting started out by saying, "Good Morning Atlanta Ward," and the congregation responded with a loud, "Good Morning." Every speaker started out the same way and the response was also the same, it was actually quite COOL! We took it easy that day.
One of the first things that we did was to visit the Coca Cola Factory. I actually thought it would be a lot like the one in Las Vegas but it was more like a museum with the history and artifacts of Coca Cola's life. They had a cute movie at the beginning and then set us free to explore the factory/museum. We took a picture with the Polar Bear whom we both love.

Then here is a picture of me sitting in a replica of an old fashion fountain parlor.

John is standing in front of an old Coca Cola Delivery Truck and then of course if there is anything GOLF anywhere, he will find it. They had a wall of famous people who promoted Coca Cola and wouldn't you know he zeroed in on Bobby Jones, (who by the way is a good ol' Georgia Boy--more on that to come.)

They also had a 4D movie that you could watch. Honestly I couldn't tell the difference between 4D and 3D but here is John being his silly self.

Finally at the end of the tour, they had several soda's that you could sample that have all been made by Coca Cola. Of course they had all the ones that we are familiar with but they had many from several different countries. I have to say that I didn't really care for the Asian mixes, but I really liked the pinenut colada (or something like that,) it was really tropical tasting. However, when we went to see the 4D movie, the host really urged us to try the "BEVERLY." BIG MISTAKE!!!! It tasted like medicine. Needless to say we walked out feeling quite bloated and sick to our stomachs. Here is John trying one of the many samples.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlQOZi3I2KI/AAAAAAAAAN0/MkgTDwj_Rys/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+017.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355921688867952802" />

That night we went to dinner at a very Southern restaurant called "Patty's Porch". The food was tasty and the ambiance wonderful. We went with four other couples that are from John's District and one of the couple is actually in our ward which made it convenient. We then walked over to Olympic Square and took some pictures there and let John and James (the one from our ward) play in the water fountains. The Olympic rings are painted on the cement and have spouts around the outlines of the circles that randomly spit water out to form the fountains. Here are some pictures and then a video of John dodging the fountains.

John went to conferences all morning the next day but in the afternoon we played. We went to the Atlanta Aquarium which is the biggest Aquarium in North America. We walked through many different displays and had fun playing on the "hands on" stuff. Here we are being goofy.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNfxxs30WI/AAAAAAAAALU/Tejmgo5721A/s320/Atlanta+Trip+091-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355729690633425250" />
Then many of you know that John LOVES sea turtles and we found a tank with them. While we were standing there watching them, one swam right up to the glass and I was able to snap a picture with John and one of his "Ocean Buddies."
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNg-J4uXLI/AAAAAAAAALc/erEF5Fc2N9o/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+051.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355731002795646130" />
Then I love the colors of the ocean life so we snapped a picture of me standing in front of colorful tank.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNizRzmJtI/AAAAAAAAAL0/jWCA03fJRyc/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+052.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355733014966314706" />
The Aquarium had tank that had glass on it that was as big as a movie screen and had several different fish in there. There were sharks, sting rays, whales, and many other kinds of fish. The question was asked why the fish don't each other and the Aquarium said they keep the fish constantly fed. It was really amazing. Here is a collage of most of the fish and then a close up of John and another pal.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNkYNwYM8I/AAAAAAAAAL8/Bhwr68KDd74/s320/Atlanta+Trip+092-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355734749045863362" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNlIb75w0I/AAAAAAAAAME/OYktZ5ULQIk/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+095.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355735577486017346" />
Next we went to the Atlanta Zoo. This was definately like any other zoo but we bought a city pass that included several different tickets to different attractions. My favorite animal was definately the Panda Bears. When we walked up to the display the mama and baby bear were lying in a hammock. They were so funny to watch. The baby bear climbed an obstacle course kind of thing and was doing summersaults to get over a dowel of wood. Here are some of the shots that I got of the panda bears.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNmYfWO05I/AAAAAAAAAMM/A53VWH54-hU/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+126.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355736952791290770" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNnCV73_yI/AAAAAAAAAMc/0vEyOu1TFkQ/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+131.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355737671819329314" />
Then here is a collage of some goofy pictures that we took behind animal boards and with statues. (doesn't John make an adorable lion?)
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlNnlQYwOZI/AAAAAAAAAMk/FwF9gZ4MXuc/s320/Atlanta+Trip+093-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355738271625263506" />

That night, after the zoo, we went to a Professional Baseball game and watched the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies play. I wasn't real excited to go but it was an awesome field and a great game with the Braves winning 5-4 in extra innings. Here a some different pictures of the field, pretty awesome if I do say so myself.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlOw4xBTP1I/AAAAAAAAANk/5QCGdtdWS5c/s320/Atlanta+Trip+094-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355818871151607634" />
Dale Murphy is one of John's favorite all time baseball players so we got a shot of his number and plaque they have to honor Murphy.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlOut1np4dI/AAAAAAAAANM/VhAW1LDEkjY/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+140.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355816484384399826" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlOvIT7DFDI/AAAAAAAAANU/5Mgdt1_tXxU/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+141.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355816939195405362" />

Then on our last day in Atlanta we toured the Atlanta Museum, The Swan House, and Smith Farm. They are all located at the same site, and offered a lot of history about Atlanta and the state of Georgia. They had a whole room dedicated to Bobby Jones and golf and John spent a lot of time in there, and I have to admit I also found it pretty interesting. Here is a picture of John in front of a Bobby Jones display case.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlOwTORRS1I/AAAAAAAAANc/mAgkJoWjASc/s320/Atlanta+Trip+09+149.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355818226168187730" />
The museum had different rooms to tour that showed "stuff" from the Civil War, the Olympics and the transportation evolution of Atlanta. Then the Swan House is a mansion that was built in the 1920's and is very beautiful and majestic. I kept thinking that it would be a perfect place for a wedding reception with the grand outside staircase and huge front lawn. The Smith Farm was next door and basically a replica of a farm that would have existed in the early 1900's. I decided that there was reason I wasn't born in that era--the main reason NO AIR CONDITIONING. Here are some shots of both houses.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_2T9bT3Wy4Do/SlOyUNgECPI/AAAAAAAAANs/Aa46vZt9Kmo/s320/Atlanta+Trip+095-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355820442164922610" />

That pretty much sums up our trip. We enjoyed great food and company and even though it doesn't look or sound like it, John learned a lot from the conference and enjoyed several key speakers. Next year, this conference is being held in Orlando, Florida--so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get to accompany John on that trip.Welburnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08352277302901955406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2853921455486755198.post-68617243917043934212009-06-25T17:17:00.000-07:002009-07-03T17:26:20.863-07:00Trevor's "LONG AWAITED" Day!Trevor has had his braces on and off since the 4th grade (he is now entering the 8th grade).
